Which lasers are used a Riverside Dental?

At Riverside Dental in Delta, British Columbia, we soft tissue lasers for better hygiene.* As with other fields, lasers have been implemented in dentistry and they have proven to be very beneficial.* The Ivoclar Vivadent Odyssey 2.4G laser provides soft tissue recontouring, gingivectomy and overall laser therapy.* This laser is particularly useful for treating the gums and other soft tissue problems.* The benefits of this laser treatment include less bleeding, reduced bacteria, reduced swelling and faster healing.* We also use the VELscope laser to detect oral cancer and other diseases.*

Ivoclar Vivadent Odyssey

The Vivadent Odyssey laser is equipped with a high performance laser that is user-friendly, safe and consistent for all patients.* Before using the laser, we will provide you with special, protective eyewear and will numb the treated area to make sure your experience is completely safe and comfortable.* We will then pass the laser over the affected area for treatment. The narrow beam from the laser only removes a specific number of cell layers on each pass, so that we have precise control over the procedure.* With this laser, we can provide:

  • Gum disease treatments*
  • Gum surgery (gingivectomy)*
  • Removal of excess gum tissue*
  • Cosmetic gum recontouring*
  • Lesion removal*

The Ivoclar Vivadent laser provides an effective, non-invasive treatment for major gum issues.* If you need gum surgery or you’d like to improve your gummy smile, schedule an appointment at Riverside Dental today.

We also provide VELscope laser treatments, which can be used for the early detection of oral cancer.* VELscope technology uses natural tissue fluorescence to improve the way we examine the oral mucosa and screen for tissue abnormalities. This laser can visually enhance pre-cancers, cancer and other oral diseases. Natural tissue fluorescence is caused by “fluorophores” that, when excited by light of an appropriate wavelength, will emit their own light at a longer wavelength. This resulting fluorescence can reveal information about structural, cellular and metabolic activity changes that are often directly related to disease processes occurring inside the tissue.* Examinations with this laser are performed in our office during your routine hygiene exam. The procedure takes about two minutes to complete. In you are interested in adding this step to your routine exam, please ask us about the procedure.
